Norman Lamont has been a regular on the Edinburgh songwriter scene since the 1990s Songwriters Showcase, up to his current outings with The Heaven Sent. He brings a wry humour to most of his work, with a complete disregard for genre labels. This song, however, dispenses with the irony for a simple and heartfelt country love song. (Curiously, he wrote it on the drive back from rehearsing with a punk/cabaret band.)
